introduction to Baltic Travel Report

Alas, like all good things Vacation ending soon also! A whole year to wait, schedule and plan your trip and here in the beating of wings has already ended. Luckily there are experiences to be remembered for a lifetime these unforgettable moments: beautiful places, amazing adventures, hundreds of meetings and new friendships, an endless list of e-mails and calls across Europe. Now I wait 12 long months of work, perhaps a blessed degree if I decide, and plenty of time to plan your next trip. But back to us.
like a puzzle now is to make my travels throughout the continent. With the trip this summer, three other nations have been added to my list, and now lacks only Iceland, the Balkans and eastern Russia, Ukraine and Belarus next year ... one of these destinations !.....
A small change in the way I travel this year has been, do not worry, I was always a backpacker, but for the first time, after seven consecutive inter-rail, the first in 99 and the last in 2005 I have delivered in all areas except for the area H, this year I had to do without the legendary ticket.
The journey already started thinking about the return from the previous year, has become increasingly foot in 2006, recording unfortunately also a fellow of the lump sum, reaching the final draft with departure from Rome on August 6 to Cracow and Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and finally Stockholm via Helsinki return flight on the 26th. I had no doubts about the success of this trip, like everyone else was fantastic. It is almost a sickness, I can not live more than three days in one place, my hunger for knowledge is insatiable. E 'is useless here to tell you the beauty of the area, the tranquility of the city in national parks, forests that surround all or the white sandy beaches with the sea ice; tell you about the swallow gallons of beer, good dishes typical although a bit 'heavy, the nightlife, the incredible beauty of the women of this land or the unexpected sympathy and kindness of the inhabitants. I will try to give you more than anything else of practical information that may be helpful, to explain our route, to give some suggestions and maybe add some personal reflections. Therefore this paper will not be a diary or travel story, because in my crazy little head still blend with the idea of \u200b\u200bwriting the dream of publishing stories for each of my trip, but business is getting a little 'megalomaniac view of the amount of the latter and that at this point it would be nice to turn into a total book on Europe, I wonder if one day ...
But back to the trip itself.
For the first time my start was not an overnight train from Termini or Tiburtina but from Ciampino airport on Aug. 6 with a Wizz Air flight to Katowice (near Krakow) total cost of € 80 ticket purchased in late May, another low cost airline that does the same route is Sky Europe. From Katowice, which is out of town you have two options: take a shuttle express, is a 9-15 seater minibus, which takes you to Katowice and continues Krakow (cost 50 zl, little + € 12) or take the bus (yellow) line up in Katowice, stops at the bus station in front of the train, (20 zl, 5 €) and from there or a train to travel to Krakow (12-18 PLN depending on the type of train: osobowy - pospieszny) or a van of Unibus (12 zl).
on trains passing in Krakow boys wearing a yellow shirt that you have to stay in some hostels, 5-6 I think, and you along with a bus from the station. We decided to go back to the hostel last year, the Cadillac is a bit 'out of the center, about 2 km to the east by way Krolewska, has rooms with four beds, a kitchen and free internet, it costs just over 6 € if you book on the internet, 9-10 on the spot. I advise you to eat more and the wonderful bar-mlecznys (dairies), a sort of self-service restaurants popular Soviet-era, where you can enjoy excellent dishes. Around the main square there are 4 all of excellent quality, among these I recommend U Stasi (ul.Mikolajska 16) located in a tiny inner courtyard has a few tables but the food is great, you should arrive early because in no time fills up and you'll have to wait in line. Once seated, you can also find the menu in English, ordered, finished eating, you go to pay at the counter near the entrance. Here you can eat delicious pierogi. You will be sure to share the meal with employees or students of the area. Dairy Bar is another good mleczny Temida Pod (ul.Grodzka 4) larger than the previous one, but the same quality, here you go to the counter you order you take the dishes and pay it. The only drawback is the menu but overcome strictly Polish enormous billboard hanging near the counter.
fact we did not lose the opportunity for a great meal with the delicious pierogi.
The dishes I recommend are absolutely taste:
Pierogi large ravioli filled with normal of cheese, but there are also meat or berries. Sometimes served with bacon. Magnificent!
Bigos wrapped in cabbage with meat, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes. To taste
kotleta schabowy breaded pork cutlet Nalesniski delicious dessert crepe filled with cheese served with fresh whipped cream and blueberries.

final overall assessment of the three Baltic countries:
the quality of hostels is generally good and affordable, entertainment abound, and nature is fantastic, having experienced the local cuisine is also affordability.
Transport is discrete, unfortunately, in Estonia the railways are a bit 'neglect and under-used and there was no possibility of using it, obviously there is a policy that has dismantled the old arcane reasons but efficient rail service, preferring the more polluting road transport in Latvia fortunately I was able to experience the train, beautiful experience that maintains a high utilization due to the many connections and low cost, a little 'the opposite of the previous year while Lithuania is a in between, with some routes to competitive number travel costs and time by bus and others do not, too bad for a factor of coincidences could not even explore these trains.
